HIFU makes use of ultrasonic power. Temporarily, the temperature rises by more than 47°c as a result of HIFU. The region becomes more flexible when new tissue regenerates in the clotting zone and forms there.
This energy penetrates the skin deeply, depending on the esthetician.
Only at the focal places, the device is aiming at does the temperature rise.
Tissues that dissipate the heat do not heat up outside the target location.
Here are the ways that HIFU lifting facial works:
- Mechanical effect: The sound vibrations cause collagen fibres to contract and fibroblasts to stimulate collagen.
- Cavitation effect: The adipocytes’ (fat cells’) membranes implode due to the ultrasounds’ vibration.
- Thermal effect: When ultrasonic energy is converted to heat, the adipocytes are destroyed, and a tiny, undetectable wound is made.
What outcomes are possible with HIFU?
HIFu’s primary benefit is that it provides outcomes from the first session and immediately following the session. After 12 weeks, there is a complete noticeable improvement in the results, along with an increase in skin suppleness. (1) The skin is more flexible and tight, the face form is more defined, the facial characteristics are enhanced, and the neck and cleavage wrinkles are less noticeable.
HIFU results for the waist
According to research, a waist reduction of 4.6 cm on average is achieved after three months in the case of treating stomach fat. (5). Results on the body appear to be seen a little sooner: four weeks following the procedure (2). Visibly tighter and more firm skin can be seen.
How many HIFU sessions are necessary?
Depending on the state of the skin and the results seen after the first session, the esthetician will determine how many sessions are required. But for best, evident, and long-lasting outcomes, two to three sessions are typically required. Then, maintenance treatments might be carried out twice or three times a year, less frequently.
What happens during an HIFU session, and how long does it last?
After cleaning the skin, a pencil is used to mark the treatment regions. The jawline, Adam’s apple, belly button, maxillary, and temporal nerves are prohibited areas that need to be noted.
The practitioner or esthetician makes the necessary modifications and selects the proper treatment handpiece. Then ultrasound “shots” are administered (see photo). The esthetician can modify her settings to make the procedure as comfortable as possible according to the sensations experienced.
Following the session, you can carry on with your regular activities. Apart from redness in the treated regions, there are often no side effects. Be sure to stay out of the sun for a week while protecting your skin. For 15 days following the session, laser or radiofrequency treatments are not advised.
The treatment area determines how long the session will last. A session for the face lasts between 20 and 45 minutes, while a session for the body lasts between 1 hour and 1h30. (5) The session moves more quickly, the smaller the space. In comparison a nose filler procedure lasts for about 5-10 minutes.
